One of our most renown American icons is our Statue of Liberty. We all know the song for her invitation: Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free; The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, Tempest-tossed to me I lift my lamp beside the golden door! Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame is the imprisoned lightning, And her name, Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand glows world-wide welcome; Her mild eyes command the air-bridged harbor That twin cities frame. "Keep, Ancient Lands, your storied pomp!" Cries she with silent lips. However, it seems the song is fading as our government seems to be closing the door on the tired, the poor and the homeless and turning away our own citizens from the welcome of Lady Liberty. Our goal here is keep Lady Liberty's Flame lit, leading the way for the welcome of the needy and ensuring that every American can exercise their constitutional rights have Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. It is a quickly growing team of people all contributing toward one goal, the good for the many over the desires of the elite. We will share stories of real people here who will be destitute if Lady Liberty's Invitation is no longer extended. Our goal is to present to Congress our suggestions to fix the system rather than leave us all destitute. We also will be reminding Congress of the founders warnings and suggestions about making sure the system was effective. In addition, we will list websites that have already provided statistics as to the detriments of our economy if they follow through with cutting these programs.
